RHUBARB FAQ

Where do I park for Rhubarb Festival?

We kindly ask that guests with limited mobility or special accessibility needs park at: Bethany Community Church - 6700 Grand Avenue From Bethany, you can enter through the secondary festival entrance off of 67th Avenue W. All other guests are encouraged to park at: Spirit Mountain Bike Park and Trailhead - 8551 Grand Avenue A free shuttle to the festival grounds will run regularly from the trailhead, starting at 9:30am, and ending at 3:30pm. The shuttle will drop passengers off at the main festival entrance off of Grand Avenue.

Can I bike to the festival?

Yes! We encourage those who are able to bike – a bike valet will be provided on-site to ensure your bike will be stowed safely while you enjoy the festivities.

Can I bring my dog/cat/hamster?

As much as we also love our furry-friends, we kindly ask that you leave your pets at home.

Can I smoke at the Rhubarb Festival?

No. The Rhubarb Festival is a smoking-free event.

I'm interested in donating my own rhubarb - how can I participate?

Starting June 1st, Super One in West Duluth (5300 Bristol Street) will be collecting rhubarb donations on behalf of Rhubarb Festival. Find a Super One employee in the produce section, and they will help you out with the rest! To harvest your rhubarb for the festival, we recommend pulling the rhubarb (instead of cutting), and only harvesting about a third of the clump to ensure regrowth. Please donate fresh, whole stalks with no leaves. Consider going the extra mile to wash, cut into 1/2" pieces, and bag it!

Will the festival be taking credit card payments for food, etc?

We will accept credit card payments, however, a surcharge fee will be applied to all credit card transactions.

Do I have to pay for water?

Nope! Be sure to bring your reusable water bottles - we will have a free hydration station at the festival!

What if there's inclement weather?

The Chum Rhubarb Festival is an outdoor event and will proceed rain or shine — we have plenty of tent coverage to keep volunteers and guests comfortable in light rain or sun. In the event of severe weather, including lightning or thunder, festival activities will pause and all attendees and volunteers will be directed to shelter inside Asbury United Methodist Church until conditions are safe. Festival coordinator Bud Trnka will be in direct communication with first responders and will make any decisions regarding weather delays or cancellation. In the unlikely event of a full cancellation, Chum will pivot to selling pies at participating churches around the Duluth area on Sunday, June 28 — because the mission doesn't stop for the weather!

THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO MAKE RHUBARB HAPPEN!
