The Site Services Manager is responsible for carrying out the mission of Chum at the St. Francis Apartments, providing best-practice support services to elderly tenants with long-term or recurrent experiences of homelessness. This is achieved through leadership of a team of employees, volunteers, and partners to carry out program and property goals based on “Housing First,” “Harm Reduction” and “Trauma-informed” philosophies. Programs within the St. Francis Apartments include, but are not limited to care coordination, food distribution, community building, safety and well-being, transportation, and connection to community services.
The Get Up and Go (GNG) Staff person plays a key role in engaging CHUM guests in meaningful, goaloriented activities while improving the safety, cleanliness, and livability of the downtown Duluth area and surrounding neighborhoods. This position leads and accompanies guests wearing CHUM vests in supervised community clean-up efforts, including safe removal and disposal of trash, debris, needles, and other hazardous materials.

Are you looking for a rewarding position working with youth? If so, we are looking for YOU! Steve O’Neil Apartments is looking for a member for their after-school and summer youth program. Our program works with families transitioning from homelessness to stabilization in our permanent housing. The goal of our program is to provide a safe and structured space that promotes learning through play to build competency in interpersonal and life skills while creating family and community connections. Each day, our program works with anywhere between 5-25 youth ages 6-17, all who live in the building. In this position, you’ll be helping plan and lead activities that focus on social competency building. You’ll also be helping with direct supervision, communicating with parents/guardians, and helping maintain safety for all participants.
We are looking for St. Francis Support Staff at Chum. Support Staff are responsible for supporting the 24-hour operations of Chum services at St. Francis Apartments, providing a safe, supportive environment for residents. This is an incredibly rewarding role, and you would have the opportunity to make a big difference in our community. Starting at $18/hour, this position is part-time.
We are URGENTLY looking for Shelter Support Staff at Chum. In this role, you will be responsible for Emergency Shelter/Drop-In Center services and other activities, as needed, by performing the following duties personally or through other employees and/or volunteers. This is an incredibly rewarding role, and you would have the opportunity to make a big difference in our community. Starting at $18/hour and $19/hour for overnights.
We would not be able to take care of and support our guests using these programs without our support staff. This role is the bones of the program, checking in with, and making sure folks using the warming center/safe bay are taken care of. As the warming center closes in the spring of this year, Safe Bay will open shortly after. We need your help for both! Full-time and Part-time positions are available starting at $18/hour and $19/hour for overnights.
Stepping On Up Internship
​This is an exciting opportunity to be involved on the ground level in implementing a five-year plan to address unsheltered homelessness in the Duluth area. The internship will include a variety of experiences, including on-the-ground work with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness and policy research and advocacy. this internship is geared toward students of social work, human services and related fields. Stipend and transportation allowance available. Minimum 400 hours for bachelors and masters level academic placements.
