Help Us Fill The Room!
This year we are hoping for 500 people who are passionate about making our community a better place. Help us fill the room and become a Table Host. Table Hosts are folks who help find these passionate people and fill their table with them. They are the most influential in filling the room for the event. What to Expect
The Golden Gala will be a night full of powerful stories, community building, and regional impact. There will be live and silent auctions, a great dinner, fantastic company, and stories of Chum's impact on Minnesota's Northern Region.
Chum's Golden Gala will be happening at the DECC. We are hoping that 500 of our community members will come together to help us meet our goal of $200,000.
Why are we raising this amount? What happens with the money? What do we do with it? All great questions!

We are raising this money so that we can better serve our community. Our shelter has been at or beyond capacity for a number of years. When first built, it was meant to give 30 people a roof over their heads and a bed to sleep in. Now we have 80 beds and over 100 people staying at the shelter most nights. We are planning to expand our shelter, and have received a big grant from the Federal Government, but more funding is needed to start and complete this project. We have also engaged in the $33 million project to revamp downtown Duluth (Stepping On Up). Needless to say, without more support from our community, we could never tackle the issues surrounding homelessness in our city.
What happens with the money donated at the dinner? All the funds we raise at the event are going to be used as general operating funds. What do we do with the money? General operating funds keep our programs running, rent and utilities paid, staff salaries, and other expenses we have to take on as a nonprofit. If you would like a further breakdown of our finances you can access them here.
We truly believe that we are the solution to lowering the number of people experiencing homelessness. But, our community holds change in its hands. You can make a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness in our city. Chum's Golden Gala is a great way to do this. By attending this dinner you will not only be able to directly support people experiencing homelessness, but you will also learn more about the impact Chum has had on our region and be able to spread that knowledge with your friends, family, and community.
Chum's Golden Gala is an event that we hope will be a turning point for our city. Let's do this together and put an end to the rising numbers of homelessness in our city.
