Procedures for Membership

1 Member Congregations
- Congregations seeking membership in CHUM shall:

- Embrace the covenant and basic goal as specified in Article III Section A and Article IV Section B.
- Obtain an official decision to join by the congregation or governing body of the congregation and request membership in writing to CHUM Board of Directors.
- Make an annual financial pledge to the work of CHUM and/or a significant in-kind contribution.
- Actively participate through clergy and lay delegates on the Delegate Assembly.
- When a congregation seeks membership in CHUM, the Executive Committee, acting with the Executive Director, shall:

- Present current CHUM mission to membership or representatives of congregation.
- Review application of prospective member congregation by Executive Committee or Task Force acting on their behalf.
- Recommendation regarding membership in writing to Board of Directors
- Upon recommendation of Executive Committee the Board of Directors shall vote to receive applicant as member congregation (two-thirds majority).
- Recommendation of membership will be voted on at the Delegate Assembly meeting (two-thirds majority).
